Multi-platinum, GRAMMY award-winning artist/DJ/producer Zedd has released his new single, “The Middle” with GRAMMY award-winning artist Maren Morris and rising artist/producer duo Grey via Interscope Records. Zedd began teasing the track earlier this month with a video of him in the studio playing a snippet of the song. Last week, he shared the artwork before announcing Maren Morris and Grey on the track, which is now available to listen to in full here: http://smarturl.it/TheMiddleLyricVideo
“We worked really hard on this record to get it just right and it feels great to be able to finally share it with everyone,” Zedd says, “It was super fun working with Maren because she is clearly an amazing singer and very talented musician. And, I always love working with Grey because we push ourselves to make the best music possible and the end result is incredible.”
“I’m so excited we’re finally able to share The Middle with the world. Zedd was so great to work with and so easy going, it felt like we’d been working together for years,” Maren shares, “the sound is reflective of my many influences as an artist – a little bit country, little pop, little R&B, relatable, emotional and catchy as hell. There are no limits with this song and I can’t wait to see how the fans react.”
“We love working with Zedd, who’s not only been a great mentor, but a great friend. It’s always exciting to see what we can come up with in the studio together and even more exciting to be able to share this with everyone,” says Grey.
Fans will be glued to their screens this Sunday as Zedd, Maren and Grey team up with Target for an unforgettable #MoreMusic debut of a new music video directed by Dave Meyers (Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake). The U.S. retailer has been behind several memorable music moments over the years and will introduce a show-stopping performance of “The Middle” in a commercial break during the 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards on CBS. The new song will also become the soundtrack for the Target Style spring marketing campaign, which kicks off on February 4th.
“The Middle” is Zedd’s first single of 2018 and follows the success of his 2017 hit singles “Stay” with Alessia Cara and “Get Low” with Liam Payne. With “Stay,” Zedd held the #1 spot at Top 40 Radio in the US for six consecutive weeks last summer. The smash hit earned Zedd his second GRAMMY nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards, making 2017 Zedd’s biggest year of his career. Highlights of the year also include landing the covers of Billboard and Forbes “30 Under 30,” singlehandedly organizing WELCOME!, an ACLU fundraising concert with a lineup that spanned the music spectrum, releasing his own line of headphones, Double Zero, and embarking on his headlining North American Echo Tour.
Zedd’s first two albums, Clarity and True Colors, garnered multiple Top 10 singles on US Top 40, No. 1s on US Dance charts, and over 5 billion streams across his discography. His global hits include GRAMMY Award- winning “Clarity” feat. Foxes, “Stay The Night” feat. Hayley Williams of Paramore, “I Want You To Know” feat. Selena Gomez, “Beautiful Now” feat. Jon Bellion, and “Starving” featuring Hailee Steinfeld and Grey. Besides his work as an artist, Zedd has produced for many of the biggest names in music, such as Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga.
Maren Morris has quickly established herself with vocal stylings that reflect her country, folk and pop influences. Last year, Morris took home the GRAMMY for Best Country Solo Performance for “My Church” at the 59th GRAMMY Awards, in addition to having the most nominations for a country music artist with four to her credit (Best New Artist, Best Country Album, and Best Country Song). This year, she received her fifth GRAMMY Award-nomination for Best Country Solo Performance (“I Could Use A Love Song”) for the upcoming 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards. “I Could Use A Love Song” was Morris’ first No.1 country radio single on both Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase Country charts earlier this month. Though rooted deeply in country music, Morris has acquired a global, non-genre specific, fan base. It’s that global fan base’s appetite that she will satisfy in 2018 starting with “The Middle” with Zedd and Grey.
